Our president is dead. He died last night from his illness which had plagued him for quite a long while.
It’s quite a tragic end to a story that at its heart is probably more a commentary of the dangers of being cowed into doing something you shouldn’t be doing than it is about evil or anyone getting their commeupance.
Of course, like I said over on the facebook page, very few people really know what happened in the last few months of President Umaru Yar-adua’s life and it would just be idle musings and well, I don’t think it is worth it. Suffice to say, may his soul rest in peace and we in Nigeria carry on in peace too.
On a more cheerful note, I have uploaded three desktop wallpapers for your viewing and downloading pleasure. They are on the flickr page and the facebook page as well. So you can pick them up from either of those. For some reason the Africa Benson ones are not the full size they’re supposed to be, but as soon as I sort that out, I will do an update making sure everyone knows.
Let me know which one(s) you guys and girls like ok?
Hi guys, so as I am sure you figured out, I decided to wait before posting up the first page of Ozidi: Of Bone and Metal (from now on written as Ozidi: OBOM). Since I didn’t put it up, I will give you another sneak peek into another one of the comics that we have on the horizon – Africa Benson. So, below is a page breakdown from one of the issues of the comic book.
Artwork is by Shobo Coker.
Next up is more character design artwork from *drum roll* Killing Days!
Bet you thought I had forgotten about that one abi? Well, below you’ll find character sketches of a preliminary version of the leader of the Days, Bloody Sunday and another one of them called Broken Thursday.
Artwork by Chika Nwose.
Well, since I am in a generous mood, I have decided to offer you gentle readers with a sneak peek of some of the other stuff we are working on.
This is a preview of a panel from the new Africa Benson series. This is been drawn by Shobo Coker and written by me.
Look forward to some more sneak peeks (possibly including some character designs from our third title!).
Here it is folks. The final issue. Like before you can view larger sizes here.
Colouring and lettering the 3 issue miniseries was a very humbling and inspiring experience. It showed me firsthand how much work goes into bringing a single issue of any comic book and has further strengthened my resolve to be up to the task.
I apologise for all the mistakes and amateurism in the colouring of the issues, but I hope that you will take that in good faith!
I think I might try and start doing more of these.
Let me know what you think about the miniseries in the comments
.

I know I said it was two more issues on twitter, but it is just one more! After that, Tenugo resumes next week
.
Here is the first issue of the teaser strip for Africa Benson.
I would have added it to the comicpress strip above so that it will display like Tenugo, but it is late and I am too tired to see about figuring out a way to keep the two comics (i.e Tenugo and Africa Benson) separate. Will try and do that tomorrow or over the weekend.
This is the first time I have attempted to do full colour for a comic strip and even though I am quite happy with the way it came out, I see LOADS of room for improvement. It is definitely a style I think I will stick with though.
Let me know what you think. Will work on colouring the rest by or over the weekend.

Good night all!
I forgot to add to my post about Africa Benson, but the illustration you all saw was done for T-shirts that will be available come December.
I will post up more news as soon as it is available with regards to how you guys and gals can lay your hands on them and what exactly the T-shirts are going to look like.
Looking forward to seeing people with AB on their chests
.
Okay, this is Africa Benson as drawn by the excellent Kenneth Coker, who I wrote about before here.
Been meaning to post this for a while now, but like I have been saying for the last couple of posts now, internet and work have conspired against me.
So, “Who is Africa Benson?”
Africa Benson is a scientist, adventurer and cross-dimensional explorer. Her world is a world in which modern civilisation developed along Afro-Indian lines instead of the Latin/European one of ours.
Technology there is super-advanced compared to ours and the existence of multiple universes common knowledge due to the discovery of ‘The Warp’, a more tangible form of the space-time continuum.
Africa Benson’s father, Delta Benson, is the founder and CEO of a technology company called Ouagadougou Technologies, creators of various household gadgets and military-grade hardware. They are also one of the few companies with the know-how to create artifacts that can affect ‘The Warp’. He is a true renaissance man, and a genius with a larger than normal brain.
Delta goes missing one day taking with him the only means of crossing the warp into other dimensions – a warp staff. Before his disappearance, he had spoken to Africa about a theory of his, that all the multiverse came from one original universe. A universe he called World Zero. Why ‘world’ and not ‘universe’? Well, you’ll have to read it to find out!
Africa manages to make her own warp staff (which you can see her holding in the illustration) and sets out to look for her father through the multiverse, trying to track him by the unique warp signature of his own warp staff.
The Warp is like a skein of 7th dimensional material that sits beneath the space-time continuum. It allows for faster-than-light travel, warping and manipulation of 3D and 4D space, and travel between multiple dimensions. It can only be manipulated by a material known widely as terracotta or coral steel, a very rare ore that occurs in comets and other stellar material in Africa’s universe.
Africa will navigate the warp, encountering multiple cultures and civilisations in the various multiverses and even beings that inhabit the warp itself as she searches for her father.
The comic is planned for print and truth be told, I am not looking at getting it out soon, but the web comic will serve as a teaser into the universe, and I might be releasing short stories of Africa Benson’s adventures on here while I work up to the full comic book.
So, “Who is Africa Benson?”, now you have a better idea.
Apologies all! Looks like both Ten Ten and Africa Benson will have to be tomorrow evening instead. Combination of internet and work. See you all tomorrow!
Yes, I was supposed to have resumed a week ago, but there was so much outstanding. I am trying to sort out contract agreements with some people whose work I want to publish, completing some scripts, making sure that an illustration I am getting done for one of the upcoming comics is done well, working on final character and equipment designs for Africa Benson and sorting out money issues.
If you follow me on twitter (or have a look at the twitter updates in the upper right), you would have seen that I promised you all new Tenugo and possibly Africa Benson today. That is still the plan, but at the moment I am having internet issues and am hoping to use another computer to upload the goods.
Anyway, expect it this evening.
There’s been quite a bit happening in the Nigerian comic book scene since I last posted and I will collate the information and disseminate to you all in due course. Highlights include my introduction to the world of Ikemba, hearing about all sorts of comics being released, and the announcement by Comicpanel of the Naija Comics and Entertainment Fair (which I hope is as successful as Ayodele wants it to be).
Spaceboy will be present at all the comic book events this Christmas, God willing, and apart from coverage (including a possible on-site podcast and/or vidcast), I will have actual printed comic books and some promo items like t-shirts for sale. I think you guys and gals will like what we’ll be showing. I will also most likely be unveiling our tagline at one of the fairs as well with which we will begin our domination plans
.
Anyway, I am back, so look forward to more excitement and drama!
